TEENAGE BOYS IN OGUN STATE ARRESTED FOR MONEY RITUALS

Police have arrested four young boys for the killing of a girl identified as Rofiat  at Oke Aregba area of Abeokuta in Ogun State on Saturday.

Soliu, who was the boyfriend of Rofiat had, with the aid of his friends strangled her, cut off her head and burnt same in a local pot, purportedly for money ritual.

Luck ran out on the teenagers when a local community guard, Segun Adewusi, sighted their activities and reported to the police at Adatan.


The four young boys are  17-year-old Wariz Oladeinde, 19-year-old Abdulgafar 20-year-old Lukman and Mustakeem are all residents of Abeokuta,  Rofiat’s boyfriend who initially absconded was later arrested by the police.

According to the Ogun Police Spokesperson, Abimbola Oyeyemi, the boys have all confessed to the crime, claiming they planned to use the burnt human head for money ritual.


According to reports, these three suspects killed a certain Rofiat for money ritual. This ugly act was perpetrated in the room of Rofiat's boyfriend. One of the suspects said, "the only part of her body we needed was the head and we beheaded her in my friend's room."


After being caught, one of the suspects, who took law enforcement officers to a room where the remaining body of the deceased was kept in a sack said, "Rofiat's boyfriend was the one who sat on her neck, twisted it and told us to quickly cut it off."

The suspect further added that men of the vigilante team, who were on duty the night of the incident, were the ones who perceived the odour of the head of Rofiat that was being burnt by them in an uncompleted building within the community.

After these suspects were arrested, law enforcement officers in Abeokuta, Ogun State, ensured that the remaining parts of the deceased got recovered. In summary, after the suspects cut off the head of their friend's lover, the lifeless body was stuffed into a sack which was filled with blood.As we speak, the suspects are still in custody of law enforcement officers as they tried not to allow people take law into their hands (jungle justice).


The aunt to the deceased further made it clear that the day the incident happened, Rofiat left home without informing the family members of her whereabout. According to Muinat, she called her that evening and the last thing she heard from 22 year-old Rofiat was that she will be home as soon as possible. After this call, she called again but the mobile number of the deceased wasn't reachable.

After some time, she reported at the nearest Police station and an officer requested for the picture of the missing girl. Upon being provided the picture, the family members were told their daughter's head was cut off for money ritual by some young men, one of which was his boyfriend named Mustekeem.

As it stands, the family of the deceased are still disheartened over the demise of their daughter. On this end, they seek justice in order to avert a future occurrence.

When being asked if she knew the alleged boyfriend who led the criminal activity, she said, " Rofiat (she) attended the same Islamic school with the boyfriend who matcheted her."

In the wake of the heinous incident, Nigerians who could not hide their disdain for the teenagers’ actions, they took to social media to express their worries.
